Dāna Tuition:
Understanding that Wildtender participants have a wide range of economic circumstances, we have created a “Dāna” tuition model for our scholarship program to allow you to choose a level of monetary contribution that feels appropriate for you and your financial situation. Dāna means “gift” or “generosity” in Sanskrit; it is an offering made from the heart out of respect to a teacher or community in Buddhist traditions. For our backpacking programs, Wildtender asks for a minimum $100 dāna tuition investment from scholars.
We thank you for supporting us with whatever additional contribution feels within your means as we strive to strengthen local and sustainable economies, honor the wisdom carried into these programs by our guides, execute programs with integrity and care, and carry out meaningful work in the world.
Notice for Esalen Accommodations:
Esalen accommodations are not included in this tuition investment, and must be booked directly with Esalen. Esalen’s all-inclusive pricing for our two-night retreat (including lodging, 3 meals a day, and full property access) ranges from $435-805 for shared accommodations, and from $1,000+ for a private room. After registering through Wildtender, you will receive instructions on how to book your stay directly with Esalen. For Esalen tuition support, there is an Esalen scholarship program you can apply for.
