Sustain & Expand
Wildtender
Based in Big Sur, California (Esselen tribal territory) and founded in 2018, Wildtender offers immersive, educational wilderness programs that cultivate kinship with the natural world, embody earth-based wisdom traditions, nurture authenticity & wholeness of self, engender meaningful community, and foster ecological stewardship.
Wildtender is a fiscally sponsored project of Inquiring Systems, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on making systemic impact in the Regenerative and Sustainability realms.
We are commited to dismantling extractive, objectifying & destructive ways of relating with the natural world; and nurturing a regenerative, diverse & relational worldview that re-weaves modern people into an enchanted, sustainable ecological paradigm.
We aspire to be a catalyst for transformational change, nurturing generations that will love, protect, and tend the earth.
Offer robust scholarship and tuition-free participation to radically expand economic accessibility to youth and diverse populations.
Build partnerships with conservation, education and tribal organizations to learn from, collaborate with, and facilitate their staff, members and/or the public having more embodied engagement with their land-based causes; and to further integrate community connections and service into Wildtender programs.
Develop and pilot new programming, including: youth & family programs, seasonal cohorts for study & practice, and more.
Design Wildtender fellowship program & invitational cohorts – to give social and environmental activists, educators, artists, and folks in the helping professions the opportunity for embodied connection with the earth, emotional and spiritual development, guided ecological study, and authentic relationship building with peers.
Expand meaningful wilderness programs and collaborations in new regions of California.
Envision dynamic new ways to help modern people embody their belonging to the earth, become good stewards of the land, and transition from humanity’s dominant ecological paradigm of exploitation and destruction, to one of reciprocity and regeneration.
