OUR Work

Based in Big Sur, California  (Esselen tribal territory) and founded in 2018, Wildtender is a nonprofit organization offering immersive, educational wilderness programs that cultivate kinship with the natural world, embody earth-based wisdom traditions, nurture authenticity & wholeness of self, engender meaningful community, and foster ecological stewardship.

At its heart, Wildtender is dedicated to shifting consciousness and transforming worldview – re-awakening deeply human ways of perceiving, understanding, and relating that restore our belonging to the living world.

Wildtender, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. EIN 33-3172425

OUR VISION

Wildtender is rooted in the conviction that the ecological crises of our time are also crises of consciousness, culture, and relationship. Meeting this moment requires more than simply changing our behaviors; it calls for a fundamental transformation in how we perceive ourselves, the Earth, and species’ place within the living world.

Our work moves against the currents of dominant culture, dismantling extractive, objectifying & destructive ways of relating, while nurturing an ancient and foundational, regenerative, diverse, and relational worldview that re-weaves modern people into an enchanted, sustainable ecological paradigm.

And we aspire to be a catalyst for this transformation – a return to the Earth, and a return to the fullness of our humanity – nurturing generations who will love, protect, and tend the wild.
